Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I really need counseling/therapy?

If what you are experiencing feels like it is interrupting your life, then it is most likely time to seek out extra support. Counseling can be a brave and bold step, so make sure you do your research and find the right fit for you. Even if you’ve tried therapy before, the right therapist can make all the difference!

Are sessions covered by my insurance?

I do not accept insurance, however you can pay for sessions with your health savings account/fund (HSA) if you have one. I can also provide you with a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement using your out-of-network benefits. If you’d prefer to use insurance, I recommend contacting your particular insurance directly for a list of covered providers.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. You can ask any health provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance a Good Faith Estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.  If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate and the No Surprises Act, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.

What can I expect for my first session?

You will receive an email with a link to join the secure online session and we will begin with the initial assessment to get a full picture of all that is impacting you, and then we will set our next appointment to start working on your goals.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Please let me know 48-hour in advance that you need to cancel, and I understand that is not always possible because, well… “life happens.” I do have a very firm 24-hour cancellation policy, so if you need to cancel for any reason, make sure you give a 24 hours advanced notice to avoid paying the late cancellation fee, which is the full session rate. I also offer phone and video sessions in case something happens last minute that prevents you from coming to your appointment.
